Kin of dead migrant workers return with assurance of compensation

BHIMDATTANAGAR: The families of four Nepali migrant workers, who were killed when a mound collapsed on them at Himachal Pradesh of India last Wednesday, have returned to Nepal with assurance of compensation.

Lokendra Bista and Dipendra Bista from Dipnagar of Jhalari Pipaladi Municipalit, Ajay Bahadur Bista from Sukhad of Kailali and Ram Bahadur Bam of Baitadi were buried alive while they were digging and paving a road at Tahashil Rampur area of Shimla district in Himachal.

The Himachal state government has pledged to provide IRs 390,000 to each of the bereaved families.

Deceased Lokendra's father Mahendra Bista said, "After we complete the rituals here, we will return to Shimla to collect the compensation."

"The Himachal state government has asked us to bring along the relationship verification certificate and death registration certificate," Bista added.

The kin of the deceased have said the contractor company has also assured of providing some relief.
