Nepal agricultural officials to receive training in Korea

KATHMANDU: A team of 12 government agricultural officials left for the Republic of Korea to attend a training programme, on Sunday.

A statement issued by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Nepal informed that the training, "Advanced Agricultural Production Technology and Enhancement of Global Competitiveness", aims to better the quality of agricultural products, processing of meat and milk products and help in strengthening of economy of the country.

According to the statement, the programme would conclude on July 19.

An orientation programme was held at the KOICA Nepal Office on June 27.

KOICA Country Director Hyungkyoo Kim in the orientation stated that the training would be important to find solution to the problems agricultural sector is facing in Nepal.

"The training would be helpful to promote agriculture in Nepal."

According to KOICA, it is a part of a three-year programme, which includes sessions and group discussion along with field visits of agricultural officials in Korea. By the end of 2017, total 36 officials are to be trained on the advanced technology.

In the past few years, KOICA has extended various fellowship programmes to its partner countries in various fields.

The KOICA Alumni Association of Nepal (KAAN) is working as a bridge between Nepal and Korea sharing their past knowledge and experiences to new others, read the statement.
