Kolkata climber Dipankar Ghos missing on Mt Makalu

KATHMANDU: An Indian climber has gone missing from the high camp of Mt Makalu in eastern Nepal, the expedition organiser said.

According to Mingma Sherpa, Chairman at Seven Summit Treks, Dipankar Ghos from Kolkata, India went missing above Camp IV of the world’s fifth highest mountain when he was returning from the summit on Thursday.

A search team, which reached the area from where the climber is suspected to have gone missing, however, failed to trace him, Sherpa said.

Earlier, Ghos, 52, climbed Mt Everest (in 2011), Mt Kanchenjunga, Mt Lhotse, Mt Manaslu and Mt Dhaulagiri among other mountains.
