KATHMANDU, MAY 10

Nepal Mountaineering Association felicitated the members of the first ever successful Phu Khang Peak expedition team.

Organised by Trekking Camp Nepal, the expedition team of five climbers from Korean Kyung Boc High School Alpine Club successfully climbed the peak on 4th May, 2022.

Located at Narphu of Manang district, Phu Khang Peak was unclimbed till the day, though it was opened for climbing in 2014 .The team was led by Kim Migon who has already ascended all the 14 peaks above 8,000m.

Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Maheswor Neupane, NMA President Santa Bir Lama, board director at Nepal Tourism Board Nwag Nima Sherpa, Dim Prakash Poudel of Nepal Airlines and Trekking Camp Nepal's Managing Director Wanchu Sherpa among others honoured the Korean climbing team for its success.

"Phukhang, which had not been climbed till date, has successfully been scaled for the first time," Managing Director of Trekking Camp Nepal, Wangchu Sherpa informed. The team led by Kim Migon completed the ascent of the 6,694m high peak at around 10:30 am on May 4.

The expedition team had left the capital on April 16. Kim Migon, Kang Sin Won, Jang Daeboo, Kim Minsoo, Lee Kunjin from Korea, along with Nepali guides Tshering Sherpa and Dawa Tshering Sherpa comprised the team.
