Kathmandu, January 21:

The fifth National Koshi Tappu bird festival will be held from February 2-8 in the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve (KTWR). The reserve is home to 479 species of birds, 31 species of mammals, 117 species of fish, 77 species of birds, 514 species of herbs, among others. The festival’s objective is to spread awareness on conservation of bio-diversity, wild animals and birds, said Pushpa Bhattarai, coordinator of fest organising committee, at a press meet organised today.

Pointing out that the KTWR is yet to be aggressively marketed, Subash Niraula, director of Nepal Tourism Board, said its development as a tourist spot will help reduce poverty, enhance the economy and contribute in the conservation of the reserve.
