Lamjung Campus shut as students, professors, staff announce protests against each-other

LAMJUNG: Lamjung Campus under the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS) of Tribhuvan University (TU) shut its classes indefinitely owing to a number of protest prgrammes announced by students, teachers and staff unions.

The BSAG fourth semester examinations scheduled for Monday could not be held as the CPN-UML-aligned All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) padlocked the Campus since July 1.

The ANNFSU cadres had clashed with Nepali Congress-aligned Nepal Students Union (NSU) on July 1 and some ANNFSU cadres were injured.

The Union then has padlocked the Sundar Bazaar-based Campus demanding actions against those involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, the TU Professors Association, Lamjung Campus Committee, announced an indefinite strike today protesting student unions' 'indecent behaviours' with the teachers.

Issuing a statement on Sunday, the Association said protesting students verbally abused and misbehaved with teachers and staff of the Campus.

TU Employees' Association, Lamjung Campus Committee, on the other hand, has announced not to cooperate in any of the activities in the Campus except examinations claiming, the students assaulted staff.

The Committee demanded that the students apologise at the earliest.

Around 400 students are studying in the Campus that employs 15 professors and 50 staff.
