Land Revenue Office reeling under severe shortage of employees

Damauli, July 28

District Land Revenue Office, Tanahun, has been operating without staff in its accounts section  for the past two years.

The office said it had been running without accounts staff after no replacement was provided for the accounts officer who was transferred to another office two-and-a-half years ago. “We have been facing difficulty handling daily financial transactions, among other things, for want of an accountant. We have been providing salaries of office staff through an accountant from the district election office, said Dirgha Bahadur Pokhrel, chief of the office.

The office has a quota of 25 staffers, including a second class non-gazetted officer. “Due to  the shortage of manpower, day-to-day activities of the office, including financial transactions, registration of businesses, ownership transfer, revenue collection, and management of grievances have been hampered,” said Chief Pokhrel.

The problem has also resulted in the public being deprived of timely services from the office and the existing staff members having to take extra workload.
