Continuous rainfall stalls clearance efforts in Gulmi section
GULMI, SEPTEMBER 11
Traffic along the Kaligandaki Corridor has come to a complete halt after heavy rains triggered a landslide at Rakse, Kaligandaki Rural Municipality-2, on Wednesday night.
According to Ganga Bahadur Saru, Information Officer at the District Police Office, Gulmi, the road has remained blocked since last night, stranding vehicles bound for Palpa and Butwal via Parbat, Baglung, and Ridi.
A police team from the Purtighat post was dispatched to the site early Thursday morning, but continuous rainfall has hampered efforts to remove debris and reopen the route.
Local contractor Kalika Construction has positioned heavy machinery at the location and will begin clearance work once the weather improves, Saru added.
Authorities have urged travelers to avoid the corridor until further notice.
