MANANG, JUNE 19

Flow of Marsyangdi River has been disrupted due to landslides debris blocking the river-section along the border of Chame Rural Municipality-4 and 5.

According to Chief District Officer Bishnu Lamichhane, the landslide that blocked the river near a connecting bridge stands as a threat to the Chame Bazar.

Continuous torrential downpour has further increased the risk of weather-related disaster in the district that has already been suffering at the hands of unpredictable weather conditions.

A large dam has formed along the river blockage whereas the settlement across Chame Bazar has been already inundated.

Floods triggered by incessant rains have led to the erosion in the area around the sole Bailey bridge connecting Chame to the upper Manang.

The district administration has already sought help of Nepal Army whereas people residing around Chame have been asked to remain on maximum alert, according to the Chief District Officer.
