Landslide displaces 25 families in Myagdi

MYAGDI: As many as 25 families of Torakhet, Bhakimli-9 in Myagdi district have been displaced due to a landslide triggered by incessant rainfall.

The families were compelled to leave the village after the landslide at Akkare Cliff started to sweep away their houses and farms.

They were forced to leave the village after different initiatives to control the landslide went in vain.

Although different bodies including the District Soil Conservation Office and the Nepal Red Cross spent a huge amount of money to control the landslide, but went in vain.

The landslide has damaged some five hectares of land and 11 houses have been completely damaged, said local Dil Bahadur Sapkota.

Locals of Torakhet have now shifted to Bhakimli, Bhakundechour and Tamane.
