Landslides obstruct rural roads in Far-Western Region
BAJURA: Landslides triggered by incessant rainfall for the past few days have obstructed rural roads in hilly districts of the Far-Western Region.
Following the obstruction of rural roads in Bajura, Achham and Bajhang among other hilly districts, people have been facing a hard time to travel from one place to another.
It has been learnt that Betalmandu-Martadi, Martadi-Kolti, Sera-Aatichaur, Martadi-Bhaunera, Betalmandu-Pudababala road sections of Bajura have been completely disrupted.
Vehicular movements—to and from—Tipada of Bajura have also been halted.
Khadka Raj Joshi, a staff at the Betalmandu Ticket Counter, informed that traffic movements have been halted only to Betalmandu of Bahrabis after landslides triggered by torrential rainfall blocked the roads and swept away diversion of the river.
Similarly, Sanphe-Payal, Sanphe-Budkot, Jayagandh-Nandegada, Sanphebagar-Mujabagar, Mangalsain-Binayak and Timalsain-Mujabagar among other road sections of Achham have also been disrupted.
According to the District Development Committee, Achham, transportation sevices have been obstructed after landslides triggered by incessant rainfall obstructed roads in various places of the district.
With the rise in water level in the Karnali River, bus services to Mangalsain-Surkhet have also been halted.
According to Kamal Rawal, a local, bus services have been obstructed after a ferry kept at Sai in Karnali River that links to Acham and Dailekh, halted due to rise in water level.
Rural roads in Bajhang district have also been disrupted.
Khadka Rokaya, a local businessman, informed that price of daily commodities has been increased up to 30 percent in Kolti Bazaar of Bajura district.
