Landslide ridden Shankhuwasabha

SHANKHUWASABHA: Families of 39 households of Sikting of Tamku VDC have been displaced due to the potential threat of landslides. According to the police, the villagers are taking shelter in a nearby village of Devithan. DSP Poshraj Pokherel at the District Police Office informed that around two hundred persons of the 39 families of the village had been displaced.

The villagers had first taken temporary shelter with the help of the police in Mulgaun area. Four persons have been killed while nine others are still missing due to various landslides in the district. CDO Tulasi Prasad Gautam informed that search for the missing was underway. Captain Anil Shrestha at the Amardal Batalion of NA said that rescue operation was underway with the joint effort of the Nepal police, Nepali Army and the Red Cross Society. Forty-one landslides has hit different places in Sikting village alone. Meanwhile, chairman of the Human Rights Network, Khadka Rai, urged all the concerned authorities to help the people of the affected area.
