Last fight remains, says Prachanda

KATHMANDU: Unified CPN Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ today said the last fight for drafting constitution and peace process is yet to be fought.

Addressing the third national conference of Tamang National Liberation Front (TNLF), he said people should keep on warning the leaders in order to not let the elements against constitution raise their heads. “If people fail to keep on warning the leaders constitution might not be drafted,” he said.

Prachanda also claimed that regressive forces were raising heads to hatch conspiracy to reinstate previous system. “We are concerned about the drafting of the new constitution because of the death of NC president Girija Prasad Koirala, former king’s activities and very less time remaining.”

He also claimed that people were in doubt over timely statute and peace process following the demise of Koirala.

He, however, claimed that his party was ready to fulfil Koirala’s absence.

He opposed the statements given by the leaders of Bharatiye Janata Party and Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachchhadhar, who were saying that Nepal should be restored as a Hindu state.

“Slogan of Hindu state

against federalism and nationality has been floated,” he said adding that regressive and communal

slogans have been brought

to counter the movement for national independence.

He also said the state restructuring commission can not change the decision of forming 14 states

in the country and it can only

resolve disputes in the demarcations and names.
