Lawmaker visits villages to hear people’s grievances

Lal Bahadur Thapa, who was elected for the Parliament from Bajura, is now in remote village busy devising development plans for his district.

“Ever since his election, he has twice visited the remote villages of the district to learn about the concerns of the locals,” said CPN-UML publicity department chief Ammar Khadka, adding the lawmaker has so far visited five out of nine local levels.

Just today, Thapa reached out to a Dalit settlement in Badimalika Municipality-9 in order to hold discussion with the villagers there.

“It was a great thing for us that he reached out to us to learn about our problems,” said ward chairperson Binod BK, adding the discussion was held in presence of municipality officials and other stakeholders concerned.

Chief District Officer Luk Bahadur Chhetri said that the concerns of the lawmaker about development activities in the district had  created instilled hope among the people. “The best part is he is also issuing instructions for completion of projects on time,” he said.

On his part, Thapa expressed his commitment to changing the face of the district. “As Bajura is long beset by poverty and lack of development, I am committed to doing all it takes to change the situation for the better,” he said, adding he was coordinating and holding discussions with the stakeholders for the same.
