Lawmakers unite on ethnic grounds
KATHMANDU: Constituent Assembly members representing indigenous communities today threatened to revolt immediately if the issues and rights of indigenous people were not addressed with priority.
CA member Suresh Ale Magar said the lawmakers were preparing to forward the agenda of indigenous people in the constitution making body. He said some of the issues they raised persistently had not been paid proper attention to in the CA. He issued the warning at a workshop that started today.
There are 219 lawmakers representing indigenous communities, according to Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities.
