Left leader calls for fight against federalism

Pokhara, February 6:

Chairman of Rastriya Janamorcha Nepal Chitra Bahadur KC today said federalism would lead the country to disintegration.

Speaking at an interaction organised by Sambad Nepal here, KC said, “Implementation of federalism with the provision of self-determination will result in the country’s disintegration and anarchy.” Nigeria, where there were three federal states, is now divided into 36 states, he said. “Federalism will not serve the interests of the people and the nation.”

Saying that federalism might lead to the end of the nation, he urged all people to fight against it. The Jana Andolan II was not launched for the establishment of federal states, he said. “The political parties are heading to a path that will end the existence of the nation in the name of federalism.”

“If we go for federalism, it will be easier for the foreigners to invade into the nation,” he said. Majority of the people were against federalism, he said. “I know that majority of the party workers of the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML is also against federalism.” “This government has failed entirely,” he said, adding, “Prices of essential goods have soared and unemployment, insecurity and corruption are on the rise.”

“How can a new Nepal be formed at a time when anomalies are incredibly increasing?” he wondered.
