Lekhak announces candidacy for NC CWC

Kathmandu, March 1

Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak today announced his candidacy for the party’s Central Working Committee membership amid a press conference. He said he was vying under the 25 seats slated for open competition.

Lekhak, who is a member of Parliament from Kanchanpur-4, said that his active participation in the constitution making process and all related negotiations would be meaningful only if he could contribute to its implementation by remaining in the party’s central body.

The next five years will be most challenging for the Congress as it will have to play the leading role in implementing the new constitution, he said.

The Congress has led all democratic movements and the constitution drafting process, hence, it needs able leadership to play the lead role in constitution implementation as well, he said.

“My sole objective of vying for the party’s central member is to contribute to the implementation of the new constitution as per its spirit and make the party organisation vibrant so that it can tackle the new challenges,” he said.

He belongs to senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba-led faction of the party.
