Lensman dies in mishap
Birgunj, April 25:
A photojournalist from Parsa and his friend, who were heading for New Delhi to be at a wedding reception of their friend, died near Gorakhpur when a train hit them last evening.
According to the FNJ-Parsa, photojournalist Subodh Singh and his friend Abhishek Agrawal from Kathmandu died on the spot when the Raptisagar Express hit them at Basti station near Gorakhpur. “When they lost control after getting off from the train, another train coming on the next track ran over them,” Indian railway police said.
FNJ Parsa chapter said that preparation was underway to bring the dead bodies to hometown Birgunj for cremation.
Twenty six-year-old Singh had been into photojournalism profession for six years. He was Parsad district secretary of the National Photojournalist’ Association and executive member of the FNJ Parsa chapter. He had worked for local daily Ankush and Pratik including half a dozen other newspapers. He was also working for the international news agency Associated Press. His photographs were also displayed at the ‘People’s War’ exhibition.
FNJ-Parsa, National Photojournalists’ Association, Mechi Mahakali Media Society issuing releases separately have mourned his untimely death.
