Leopard returns home after two-day urban sojourn in Lamjung

LAMJUNG: A leopard which strayed into Besisahar, the district headquarters of Lamjung and frightened locals, was taken under control after two days, on Monday.

The adult leopard was tranquilised and taken to a nearby forest in Udipur where it was set free in its natural habitat today. A team from the Chitwan National Park was called to Lamjung to tranquilise the leopard.

The wild cat was first spotted near Gairidhara of Besisahar-12 on Saturday at around 8:30 am. Seeing it prowling near the Jhinge Khola, locals of Trivenitol and police tried to shoo it away.

Terrified by a mob chasing it, the adult mammal, however, entered basement of a house where it was holed up since Saturday.

The leopard did not attack or injure anybody during its two-day sojourn in the town, according to locals.
