KAPILVASTU/ JHAPA: Two people died after they were struck by lightning in Kapilvastu and Jhapa districts on Tuesday.

The deceased have been identified as 55-year-old Mohammad Musalman of Bidya Nagar VDC-7 in Kapilvastu district and 37-year-old Banilal Rishidev of Lakhanpur-8 in Jhapa district.

According to the Ganeshpur Area Police Office, Musalman was working in the field when the lightning struck him.

He was rushed to a local hospital for treatment, but succumbed to his injuries on the way, police said.

According to the Damak Area Police Office, he was busy tilling the land. He died on the spot

Meanwhile, a buffalo was also struck to death by a bolt of lightning at Motipur of Ramnagar VDC-7 in Nawalparasi.

Police said, the buffalo, worth around Rs 50,000, belonged to Avatari Yadav.
