Limbuwan, Khambuwan follow Maoists suit
ITAHARI: Claiming the act to be a settlement of land dispute, workers of Khambuwan National Front and Federal Limbuwan State Council today seized 2 katthas and 15 dhur of land belonging to a Rana family in Itahari.
The intruders said that the landowner Shiva Rana had not provided the land as per an earlier agreement with Rajendra Pokharel, a resident of Katunje in Bhaktapur.
The cadres of both the organisations had issued a notice before taking the land under their control by erecting their party flags. The city committees of organisations have also warned not to buy and sell the seized land.
Roshan Dhakal, a leader of the front of Itahari city committee, said that the landowner Rana had sold the land to Pokharel three years ago.
Out of the five plots, Rana was yet to transfer the disputed land to Pokharel, he maintained.
According to Tika Dhungel, central committee member of the council, they had seized the land to provide justice to the victim. Dhakal claimed that they seized the land after victim Pokharel lodged complaint with their organisation.
However, supporters of Rana have made an appeal at the Appellate Court, Patan.
Nevertheless, Pokharel had won the case in Kathmandu District Court earlier. Pokharel claimed that he was compelled to complain against Rana as he did not get the land as per the agreement.
