Limbuwan strike hits life, serves party cause

Damak, November 13:

A daylong Jhapa-wide strike affected normal life in Jhapa and adjoining districts today.

The Sanghiya Limbuwan Rajyaparisad (SLR) had called the strike to pressure the government to release six of its cadres.

The police had detained the SLR cadres in Dhulabari on Sunday.

The agitators vandalised over 12 vehicles. The police detained an SLR cadre, Nabin Limbu, from Damak and seized his motorcycle. Ganesh Angdanbe, district chairman, Limbuwan Volunteers, was also detained.

Araniko Highway remains shut

SINDHUPALCHOWK: The strike on Araniko Highway affected travellers on Thursday. Locals have been enforcing the strike after a truck ran over Shashi Kumar KC of Sangachowk-9 four days ago. The protesters have been demanding compensation to the bereaved family of Kharendra KC, who was hurt in the incident. The bandh brought traffic to a halt in Sindhupalchowk, Dolakha and Ramechhap districts. — HNS
