Limbuwan warns against Maoists
ITAHARI: Different Limbuwan organisations today warned of retaliation against the UCPN-Maoist if the latter did not immediately withdraw the declaration of Kochila and Kirat autonomous states. Organising a mass meet here, leaders of United Limbuwan Front, formed of nine Limbuwan organisations, including Limbuwan National Liberation Front, affiliated to the Maoists, expressed such a view.
The speakers on the occasion also accused that the Maoists were trying to split the Limbuwan state by talking about Kirat and Kochila states.
In-charge of Federal Limbuwan Council, KP Palungwa, said that the Maoists disfigured the history of the Limbuwan land in the garb of Kirat and Kochila states.
“Maoists are trying to erase the history of Limbuwan,'' he said, threatening to retaliate against the Maoists.
“To stop this from happening, we're organising programmes in different places to inform the people about it,'' Palungwa said, accusing the Maoist leaders, including Gopal Kiranti of hatching a plot to weaken the Limbuwan State.
He also accused that the CA members representing the Indigenous Communities had not been working for the welfare of their respective societies.
Kumar Lingden, central chairman, Federal Limbuwan State Council, accused that the Maoists were trying to divide the Limbuwan region. ''Maoist are trying to neglect the Limbuwan State in the name of Kirat, Birat and Kochila States.'' He also warned of an endless conflict if anyone tried to break asunder the present nine districts, which he claimed are historical foundation of Libuwan-east to Arun River.
Lingden also claimed that they would foil any move on federalism in their area. He also accused that the Kathmandu-based newspapers were not covering their news. Meanwhile, Bir Nembang, chairman, Limbuwan Liberation Front, said that it was a big mistake on the part of the Maoists to declare Kochila and Kirat states as part of the Limbuwan region. Accusing that Prachanda was trying to divide the Limbuwan people, he demanded the withdrawal of the declaration.
