Mahendranagar, May 2 :

The construction of the Mahendranagar-Tanakpur link road is going to start soon, Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Shiva Shankar Mukherjee, said here today. India had agreed to construct the 13.5-km link road seven years ago. The government has acquired land belonging to 493 households living in construction areas and provided them compensation.

Chief divisional engineer at the Division Road Office in Mahendranagar, Buddhi Prasad Neupane, said 90 per cent households have been compensated for their land so far. The government allotted the budget of Rs 5 lakh this year and if additional Rs 30 lakh is released, all the affected households could be compensated, he said.
