KATHMANDU, JULY 25
Candidates from all political parties have failed to comply with the provision of Election (Offence and Punishment) Act, 2017, that requires them to make their election expenditure details public and inform the Election Commission.
Some of the key political leaders who were slapped Rs 15,000 fine for not complying with the election law are Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa, CPN-UML leader Rajan Bhattarai, Chair of Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal Upendra Yadav, Chair of Loktantrik Samajwadi Party-Nepal Mahantha Thakur, Another LSP-N leader Sharat Singh Bhandari, who is the minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Nepal Samajwadi Party leader Mahendra Ray Yadav, and Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Sobita Gautam.

The EC also imposed Rs 15,000 fine on Minister of Foreign Affairs and Congress leader NP Saud, NC Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak, NC leader Umakant Chaudhary, Sushasan Party President Ramesh Kharel, CPN-MC leader and former speaker Onsari Gharti, RPP leader Rabindra Mishra, Janata Pragatisheel Party Nepal leader Hridayesh Tripathi, NC leader Mahalaxmi Upadhyay (Dina), NC leader and industrialist Binod Kumar Chaudhary, and UML leader Sarbendra Khanal and Aam Janata Party Chair Prabhu Sah.
