Local bodies’ revival sought

Kathmandu:

The Central Coordination Committee of Local Bodies has demanded that the government reinstate local bodies to create a favourable working environment till the country gets a new constitution.

The committee, which include the Municipal Association of Nepal, Federation of District Development Committees and National Federation of Village Development Committees, said reinstatement of the local representatives elected some nine years ago was the only alternative.

“Till a new constitution comes into force, the nation needs these bodies to implement the declarations made by the House of Representatives,” said a press release issued by the committee today.
