Surkhet, March 23:

One ward chairman and four ward members of Birendranagar Municipality, who were elected unopposed in the last municipal polls, have tendered their resignation via mail.

A member of Ward No 11, Dutt Budha, who sent his resignation by registered mail today, said he feared being arrested by security personnel if he had gone to the municipality to submit his resignation personally.

Chairman of Ward No 3, Karna Bahadur Giri, also said he sent his resignation by mail after fleeing from the security personnel who had been keeping a watch on him.

The plight of a member of Ward No 6 is no different. He said he still eludes security forces after he fled from their ‘detention’.
