Local reps leave for India with fund meant for educational tour
Dhangadi, August 1
The fund was meant to help uplift educational standard in the rural municipality through visits to several schools in different provinces and learning from them, but the fund is being misused in Janaki Rural Municipality of Kailali.
According to sources, a team of head teachers of both community and private schools in the municipality headed by the rural municipality’s Education Department Chief Kamal Bahadur Khadka and Ward No 7 Chairperson Laxman Chaudhary, set out to visit India on July 24 using the fund worth 4 lakh rupees.
As per reports, the team is scheduled to visit New Delhi, Dehradun, Agra and Hardwar, among other places, with the fund, which was set up by the rural municipality last fiscal at the initiative of head teachers.
In fact, the decision to head for a foreign visit with the fund meant for educational purpose has also created dispute at the rural municipality, where the rural municipality Chairperson Pradeep Kumar Chaudhary protested the idea.
“I told them to use the fund wisely, but to no avail. They didn’t listen to me,” said Chaudhary.
Meanwhile, the visit has also irked local guardians, who have sought investigation and action against those involved in this shenanigan.
