Locals construct road

Tanahun , September 5

Residents of Bhadgaun of Byas Municipality, Tanahun, have upgraded a local road on their own initiative.

The 2.66 km road blacktopped at the cost of around Rs 6 million was inaugurated by Constituent Assembly member Dhruba Wagle amidst a programme here on Saturday. While 60 per cent of the budget was allocated by the municipality, the remaining amount was donated by villagers themselves. Speaking on the occasion, Wagle hailed the locals’ efforts and asked others to learn from them. He also urged people not to rely on the government for everything.

Byas municipality executive officer Humanath Sharma Dhakal, former Mayor Tara Prasad Shrestha, among others, also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the benefits that the locals could accrue after the road upgrade. According to Bel Bahadur Thakuri, chairperson of Tole Development Organisation, over 20,000 people of Bhadgaun, Belbas, Pokharibhanjyang, Keshavtar and Ghansikuwa are likely to be benefited from the road.
