Locals continue demonstration

The demonstration that locals had started after two persons died in an accident in Pahalmanpur of Ghodaghodi Municipality-10, Kailali yesterday, continued today as well.
Ram Bahadur Chaudhary, 40, died on the spot and the injured pillion rider Man Bahadur Chaudhary, 42, died in the course of treatment at Dhangadi-based Seti Provincial Hospital after a bus carrying a group of picnickers to Nepalgunj from Dodhara Chandani of Kanchanpur hit the motorbike they were riding last evening.
While Ram Bahadur’s body has been stranded on the road for as long as 18 hours now, Man Bahadur’s body is at the hospital, where he died.
Following the accident, kin of the deceased and locals obstructed the East-West Highway seeking action against the guilty and compensation for the kin of the deceased. Though the obstruction was lifted keeping in view the hassle faced by commuters stranded on the road after inconclusive talks that lasted till 8:00pm yesterday, locals and kin of the deceased resumed their obstruction from 8:00am today, said Kailali District Police Office Inspector Prakash Singh Karki.
According to the DPO, talks between representatives of the bus committee concerned, locals and kin of the deceased are under way.
Cases of road accidents are on the rise across the country despite efforts from traffic police.
