KAVREPALANCHOK: Traffic along the Banepa-Panauti road section has been halted from today due to the locals' protest.

Locals said that they were compelled to halt the traffic as the dusty road had made a negative impact on the health of children and elderly persons.

They have blamed the authorities for carelessness and urged them to fulfill the past agreements.

Executive Officer of Panauti Municipality Shyam Khadka shared that a meeting would be held soon to resume the traffic.

Khakda expressed the belief that an understanding would be reached among locals, tipper entrepreneurs' association and the Department of Natural Resources and Mines as the Department of Roads has given assurance to carry out the maintenance of the road from January 26.
