Locals obstruct vehicular movement seeking whereabouts of abducted person

Siraha, August 21

Locals of Gol Bazaar Municipality in Siraha obstructed vehicular movement along the East-West Highway at Choharwa Bazaar today protesting police apathy in tracing a woman abducted from her home nearly two weeks ago.

Fifty-five-year-old Kari Devi Yadav of Golbazaar was allegedly kidnapped from her home 12 days ago.

As police have failed to trace the abducted woman, angry locals resorted to chakkajam today. Hundreds of vehicles were stranded on the road for an hour following the blockade.

Reportedly, a stranger on a motorbike had persuaded the elderly to ride with him to visit her ill nephew.

Local have accused the woman’s nephew Laxman Yadav and brother-in-law Ramdev Yadav of masterminding the kidnap. “They have a property-related case pending and haven’t shown any concern even after the old woman went missing, which points fingers at them,” said local Ram Kewal Mandal.

Later today, the locals agreed to open the blocked road after police agreed to arrest Laxman and Ramdev and investigate the case.
