Locals pay obeisance to unearthed idols

Siraha, June 2:

For the past five days, locals of Bandipur are busy praying to the idols of gods and goddess which were found after a mudslide on Chure hill in Siraha.

Idols of Shiva, Parvati and Ganesh were found after a mudslide from the hill at Bayarbani jungle. Fearing that disaster is looming around the corner, Bandipur locals are engaged in propitiating the gods and goddess since Tuesday. The Shiva idol is of metal, a metre high and weighs 50 kg; that of Parvati weighs 22 kg. The idols of Shiva, Parvati and Ganesh were found on Tuesday morning, said the chairperson of Sagarmatha Corner Club, Ram Hari Sharma.

A teenage girl, Binita Kunwar,13, found the idols when she went to cut grass on the hill, Sharma said, adding that locals swarmed like locusts to the spot after learning of the discovery.

A large numbers of devotees from Udayapur, Sindhuli and Dhanusha districts are coming to offer prayer to the idols, a local Sanjeev Lama said, adding that as there was no road to go into the jungle.
