Locals protest seeking justice for Nirmala Panta

Dhangadhi, September 16

With the initiative of Civil Society, Dhangadhi, locals protested demanding arrest and action against the guilty involved in the rape and murder of the 13-year-old Nirmala Panta in Dhangadhi today.

The protest rally started from Chauraha and turned into a corner meeting after reaching Parkmode. The demonstrators accused the government of being guardians of rapists and murderers.

Leader of civil society Hari Regmi said that it was the weakness of the government that the murderers were yet to be arrested. “It is clear that the state is the guardian of culprits due to the incidents that were repeated during investigation,” he added.

The women, who were protesting seeking justice for Nirmala, obstructed vehicular movement along the East-West Highway at Jhalari of Kanchanpur today.

Kanchanpur SP Kuber Bahadur Kathayat said that the district headquarters was normal today. SP Kathayat appealed to the people to help as the investigation was under way.
