Locals’ hand suspected in Shakya’s abduction

Birgunj, January 15:

Birharsha Shakya, a businessman of Birgunj Maisthan, who was freed from abduction, addressed a press conference held in Narayani Zonal Police Office Birgunj, this afternoon. Abductors had freed him after he paid a ransom.

Mentally stressed, Shakya, talking to the journalists, said local people might have been engaged in his abduction. Police also said local people might have been involved in the abduction because Shakya heard them talk in Bhojpuri and Nepali languages.

The abductors released him at the Hanuman temple in Feta Fulbariya VDC of Bara district yesterday morning.

On the occasion, media persons raised their concern over the increase in cases of abduction, theft and robbery in the villages.

Head of the zonal police office, SSP Ganga Pandey regretted that the crime rates are on the rise despite the reinstatement of the police offices.

SP in the district police office, Ramesh Funyal said they have received information that police and criminal gangs are involved in Shakya’s abduction and necessary investigation is going on.
