Loss from natural calamities in Kavre

Natural calamities in various places of Kavre district claimed six lives and destroyed property worth Rs 27.158 million in the last fiscal.

As per the annual report of the District Police Office, Kavre, four persons died due to floods and landslides while two others died after lightning struck them. Similarly, some 39 animals and cattle died due to natural disasters. Of them, 29 died in fire incidents while floods and landslides killed 10 animals. Some 47 houses, including four concrete houses, two temporary shelters and three cowsheds, were damaged in fire incidents while 25 houses and sheds were damaged due to floods and landslides. Strong winds also damaged two houses in the district. Similarly, some 440 hectares of community forest, powerhouse of a micro hydropower project and some 17,650 meter water pipeline were gutted in a fire incident.
