Kathmandu, August 20:

The Lumbini Boudha University has demanded Rs five million from the government to build the university’s infrastructure. The university will be the first research-based university on Buddha and Buddhism. “We have requested the Ministry of Finance, University Grants Commission and the National Planning Commission to provide the fund of Rs five million to set up the offices and proceed further on establishing the university,” said Professor Dr Tulasi Ram Vaidya, vice chancellor of Lumbini Boudha University. The government had announced open the university through an ordinance 10 months ago, but the formation of the academic council, appointment of registrar and rector haven’t materialised yet. “All that will be done very soon as dialogue is being held with the Education Ministry on the subject,” said Dr Vaidya.
