Madhes bandh leads to oxygen shortage at Mahottari hospitals
MAHOTTARI: Oxygen cylinders in hospitals of Mahottari district are in short supply due to the indefinite shutdown called by the United Democratic Madhesi Front for last 21 days.
According to Girendra Jha, Public Health Inspector at the District Public Health Office, the hospitals here have started to run short of oxygen cylinders as the cylinders stocked at the hospitals were also used for ambulances also, besides hospitals.
In lack of adequate oxygen cylinders and medicines, hospitals here are facing problems in rendering medical services to those sustaining injuries during the clash, shared Public Health Inspector Jha.
“Patients are suffering due to the lack of medicine," informed Jha.
Vehicles, plying on both, short and long haul, have remained off the road in the district since the shutdown was enforced, leading to obstruction in the smooth supply of medicines and other essentials.
The agitators have been demonstrating in various places of the district since this morning.
Markets, industries, educational institutions, financial institutions and government offices have remained close in the district, owing to the shutdown.
