KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 18

Madhes Province's Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav obtained a vote of confidence on Sunday, marking his third successful vote since assuming office.

Out of the 104 Province Assembly members present, 69 voted in favor of Yadav, while 35 voted against him. The Chief Minister garnered support from Assembly members of parties other than CPN (UML) and Janamat Party.

CM Yadav was compelled to seek another vote of confidence after two ministers from the Janamat Party resigned from the government and withdrew their party's support from the Madhes Province administration.

The Province Assembly comprises 24 members from CPN (UML), 22 from the Nepali Congress, 19 from the Janata Samajbadi Party, 13 from the Janamat Party, 9 from CPN (Maoist Centre), 9 from Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, 7 from CPN (Unified Socialist), and one each from Nagarik Unmukti Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party, along with an independent candidate.
