UDMF cadres carry out arson attack on UML lawmaker in Sarlahi
RAUTAHAT: United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) cadres have carried out an arson attack in the residence of CPN-UML lawmaker Kamala Devi Mahato at Malangawa-10, the headquarters of Sarlahi district, on Monday afternoon.
People who arrived from different villages in Sarlahi district near the bus park soaked Mahato's residence with petrol and carried out the arson attack.
When Armed Police Force (APF) personnel called for a fire brigade to extinguish the fire, the mob had blocked the way and attacked on the security personnel with stones. Hence, the APF personnel were forced to discharge tear gas and pellets to take the situation under control, informed Chief District Officer (CDO) Meghnath Kafle.
Five people were injured when the APF troop opened fire on the mob. One of the injured has been identified as Bikram Raya, son of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Democratic Senior Vice-Chairman Rameshwar Raya Yadav.
Raya was shot on his neck and has been sent to Kathmandu by a helicopter for further treatment after general aids at the Sarlahi District Hospital, Malangawa. Four other injured are undergoing treatment in the Hospital.
