KATHMANDU: The United Democratic Madhesi Front on Sunday demanded that the government launch an independent probe into a clash between protesters and police in Jogbani of Morang yesterday.

Sadbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato, one of the key leaders of the agitating Front, was injured in the clash with police at Rani customs point, near Biratnagar of Morang district, on Saturday.

Issuing a press statement today, the Front demanded that the government book the culprits after the investigation.

Meanwhile, it urged the government to end using excessive force to contain protests and injuring its cadres.

The alliance said its protest programmes would continue.
