Madhesi leaders disrupt all-party meet in Saptari

Leaders and cadres of Madhesi parties today disrupted an-all party meeting on local body restructuring held at District Development Committee office, Saptari.

They shouted slogans and disrupted the meeting attended by representatives from political parties, journalists, civil society and, different organisations. The meeting started at 1:00 pm.

Local Development Officer Sudew Kumar Pokhrel on behalf of the Local Level Restructuring Technical Assistance Committee commenced the meeting and urged the participants to voice their suggestions.

Immediately after that, National Madhes Socialist Party’s leader Gajendra Kumar Mandal stood up and argued that the meeting was pointless as disputes on the number and boundaries of provinces, among others, were yet to be resolved.

Saptari Chairman of Sadbhawana Party Sunil Kumar Jha said they were forced to

disrupt the meet as it had no meaning until the disputes on provincial boundaries were settled.

Nepali Congress Saptari district Chair Dinesh Kumar Yadav demanded that the government first resolve the disputes on the number and boundaries of provinces.

Local Development Officer Pokhrel said that the meeting ended inconclusively after leaders of different Madhesi parties shouted slogans and disrupted the meeting.
