Madhupatti health post running from VDC office
Rajbiraj, August 3
The lack of a separate office building has been affecting service delivery at Madhupatti Health Post in Madhupatti VDC, Saptari, of late.
Service seekers are deprived of quality health service as the health post lacks adequate infrastructure while the available building is in sorry state. For want of an office building, the health post has been operating from two rooms of the VDC office. Around 5,000 people of Madhupatti and Daulatpur VDCs benefit from the health post.
The lack of infrastructure has hit local pregnant women seeking parturition service.
“Whenever a pregnant woman comes for check-up, I ask all the staffers to leave the room, check the patient and call them back once the check-up is over,” said ANM Pabitra Shrestha, of the health facility.
Shrestha said she had to ask other staffers to leave the room for up to four times a day. “I don’t think the situation will change until the health facility is relocated from the VDC office,” she added.
The health post has been using two rooms of the VDC office, including one storeroom.
AHW Pradip Chaudhary, of the health facility, however, said they had already managed land for the construction of a building for the health post. According to Chaudhary, health service is being provided in an effective manner with quotas of seven staffers, including health workers stationed at the health post.
He added that up to 25 persons visited the health post on a daily basis. Most of the patients visiting the health centre suffer from fever, common cold, diarrhoea and gastritis.
Bijay Jha, Chief at Saptari District Public Health Office, said his office had written to the Ministry of Health requesting it to construct a building for the health post as seven kathha land had already been acquired for the same. “All the process has been completed. The building construction will begin soon,” Jha said.
