Mahat faces trial

Kathmandu:

The Constituent Assembly Court today refused to issue interlocutory stay order seeking to prevent Finance Minister, Dr Ram Sharan Mahat, from participating in the process of Constituent Assembly. A three member bench of justices - Anup Raj Sharma, Top Bahadur Magar and Ram Kumar Prasad Shaha - refused to issue the order following today’s hearing. The bench stated that since all the written arguments have already been submitted in the court, the questions related to the election would be settled after the final hearing of the case.

Mahat has also been facing charge of winning election from Nuwakot-2 with irregularities. Maoists defeated candidate Hit Bahadur Tamang had filed the case. — HNS
