Maintain law, order, PM tells govt bodies
Kathmandu, April 20:
Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala today appealed to government agencies to maintain law and order in the country.
Koirala made the appeal after receiving the report of the fiscal year 2061-62 BS from Attorney-General Yagyamurti Banjade.
Out of 25,998 cases filed by appellate and government attorneys’ offices in several courts during that fiscal year, 10,987 cases have been settled, the report says.
The criminal justice system should be made more effective, the report says, calling for timely revision in and appraisal of the existing criminal justice system, victim’’s justice procedures, legal system for the protection of witnesses and investigation, prosecution and defence system.
The report has suggested reforms in the investigation and prosecution system.
