Malaysian climber missing on Mt Annapurna
KATHMANDU: A foreign climber has gone missing on Mt Annapurna since last evening, the expedition organiser said.
According to Mingma Sherpa, Chairman at Seven Summit Treks, Wui Kin Chin from Malaysia went missing while descending from the summit point of the 8,091-metre peak.
At least 32 climbers made it to the summit point of Mt Annapurna yesterday making the season's first summit to the 8,000 m mountain.
"All climbers except Kin Chin descended to Camp IV by 10:00 last evening," Sherpa quoted the climbers as saying.
The 49-year-old was part of the 13-member expedition led by French climber Barobian Michel Christian, Sherpa added.
"Once the climber was reported missing this morning, our company has already requested the Global Rescue to carry out a search mission at the earliest," he said.
Kin Chin had successfully climbed Mt Everest in the last spring season, according to a record available at the Department of Tourism.
