Man allegedly killed by co-workers

A worker of Dhaneshwor Gravel Industry was killed in a dispute with co-workers in Panauti Municipality of Kavre last night.

The youth has been identified as 23-year-old Som Bahadur Ghalan of Gokule VDC. “The workers at Dhaneshwor Gravel Industry got in a dispute under the influence of alcohol while they were playing cards last night,” said  Area Police Office, Banepa.

“So far we can tell that that Ghalan was hit with a rod in the middle of the altercation. We are probing further,” said Inspector Anil Ghimire.

A critically injured Ghalan was immediately rushed to Banepa-based Sheer Memorial Hospital, from where he was referred to Madhyapur Thimi Hospital. Ghalan died when the treatment was under way in Thimi Hospital.

Police have arrested Ghalan’s co-workers — Suman Chaudhary, Santosh Chaudhary, Bir Bahjadur Chaudhary and Thakur Chaudhary — for involvement in the case. The accused are locked up in District Police Office, Kavre.

Padam Moktan, Ghalan’s uncle, said that his nephew was killed by his co-workers and that he has filed an FIR against the suspects with the District Police Office today.

The workers at the factory sat out in protest today saying Ghalan was killed on the premises of the factory.
