RAJBIRAJ, SEPTEMBER 11

Police have held a man accused of slaughtering a calf from Mahadeba Rural Municipality, Saptari, today.

The accused has been identified as Sakur Miya, 65, of the rural municipality. Another accused, Miya's son Iliyas Miya, 35, is at large and police have launched a manhaunt to nab him.

Police have seized the meat from Miya's house. According to DSP Madhav Prasad Kafle of District Police Office, the police team seized five kg meat and four feet of the calf from Miya's house. Acting on a tip-off, a joint police team deployed from Area Police Office, Kanchanpur, and Police Post, Diman, reached Miya house yesterday and took him under control along with the meat.
