Man arrested on charge of polygamy

MAHOTTARI: A man who allegedly married for the second time, after charging his first wife of not giving birth to a son, was arrested from his new in-laws' home in Mahottari.

Mukesh Mahato,30, a resident of Chireswar municipality-9 of Dhanusha was arrested on Thursday morning for committing polygamy, according to DSP Lokendra Shrestha at the District Police Office Mahottari. He was arrested along with his new bride from the latter's home in Gaushala-4, Mahottari. They had tied the knot on June 15.

The newly-wed couple was arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by Mahato's first wife Sanju Devi, whom he had married three years ago. She had filed the complaint on Wednesday.

Preparations are underway to file a case of polygamy against Mukesh and his new wife, police said.
