RAUTAHAT: A person was arrested on the charge of possessing an unlicenced firearm in Gujara Municipality-3 of Rautahat distict on Thursday.

The arresstee has been identified as local Dharichhan Raut (35).

Acting on a tip-off, a team of police deployed from the Harinagar-based Police Post arrested Raut with a muzzle-loader yesterday, while he was en route to the nearby forest to hunt animals, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ram Kumar Dani, Spokesperson at the District Police Office, Rautahat.

Meanwhile, Raut along with the muzzle-loader has been detained for further investigation, said DSP Dani.

Recently, wildlife poaching has increased in the district, according to locals.
